What do brokers in Egypt usually charge?

Whether of not you use our services, we believe everyone deserves to know the standard broker fee.

  • If you're renting for less than one year, brokers typically charge half a month's rent as their fee

  • If you're renting for a year or more, the standard fee is one month's rent

If you're thinking "doesn't this mean that the broker will always be incentivized to keep the rent high" - you're absolutely right! We avoid this conflict of interest by giving our price ahead of time.

As an example, a 3 bedroom in a decent area usually starts at $1000 per month, so the broker would take $500 or $1000 depending on how long your contract is; whereas with us you'd pay less.

But Be Prepared...

Egypt has a strong culture of bargaining, especially when prices aren't fixed. It's common for brokers to quote higher fees expecting you to negotiate - just like at markets, with taxis, and in many everyday transactions.

You should also be aware that:

  • Brokers are not responsible for cleaning the property or checking that utilities are working. If you want anything done before moving in, you'll have to request it explicitly

  • Rental contracts are issued in Arabic. It is wise to have a trusted friend or translator review it to avoid any confusing or unfair clauses.

By choosing us, you'll skip the common pitfalls, and get honest support from someone who understands both your expectations and the local reality.
